On watching “The Mustang”
He wants the horse to obey so he punches its flanks, his method
anathema to wizened wise cowhand (Bruce Dern) who trains him
to break feral mustangs for the auction block, cash for teaching inmates
like him to harness wildness, longing for the herd & gallop &
scrub so he (the prisoner, that is) will be gentled, not angry
& walk among us, tamed.
